Who We Are

The IACUC Administrators Association (IAA) is a national community supporting professionals who manage and oversee institutional animal care and use programs. For more than 25 years, the Association has advanced consistency, clarity, and best practices in IACUC administration through practical education and peer collaboration. As programming transitions to the IACUC Administrators Alliance, this mission and community-focused approach will continue to grow.

Grass Roots Origin

A Community Built by Administrators, the IACUC Administrators Association grew from a grassroots network of administrators who began meeting informally to share challenges and practical solutions. These peer-driven discussions fostered consistency, innovation, and confidence in animal care and use programs nationwide. Supported by hundreds of professionals, this collaborative spirit will continue through the IACUC Administrators Alliance as the community evolves to meet new challenges.

Impact and Community

Advancing IACUC Administration both Nationally and Internationally - IAA’s impact extends well beyond its meetings. Through sustained peer collaboration, the Association has helped shape common practices and best practices used by IACUC administrators nationwide. Knowledge developed through IAA activities also contributed to the publication of The IACUC Administrator’s Guide to Animal Program Management, including an international edition published in China - demonstrating the broader reach and influence of the community’s work.

For more than 25 years, the IACUC Administrators Association has fostered a collaborative national community dedicated to strengthening animal care and use programs. Built on shared experience, trusted partnerships, and practical education, this legacy continues through the IACUC Administrators Alliance, supporting today’s administrators while preparing the next generation to assume a leadership role.

Alliance Transition and Continuity

The IACUC Administrators Alliance represents the continued evolution of a long-standing professional community. As organizational structures and leadership models have been updated, the core mission of supporting IACUC administrators through education, collaboration, and shared experience remains unchanged.
Information about the Alliance transition, governance model, and future programming will continue to be shared as these efforts move forward.

Throughout the transition, the Association’s founders and long-standing leaders, Bill Greer and Ron Banks, will remain fully engaged. They will continue serving as faculty, program facilitators, and mentors, supporting the Alliance’s core faculty and advisory board while helping guide the development of its long-term governance structure.
